@relentless-red saidDo you agree with the Liverpool Echo who claim that there is a negativity running though the Liverpool squad?

Only sung with passion and not just by 3% of your crowd.

@divegeester saidI would be surprised if there wasn't at the moment. They are not breaking out of a downward spiral. For me selecting the two Williams and Philips as our defence rather than putting out the best of what's left made no sense when we are already 2.0 up against Leipzig.

Klopp has just lost his mother and he is a human being. That is cruel timing just as he needs to break out of this. I had great days out in Basel and Kyiv. Obviously Madrid was a better trip again. Working with such intensity to win the league as a reaction to missing it by a point the previous season (with a points total that would normally see you as champions) took incredible resilience just as winning the European Cup after final defeat the previous season did. Doing so with the monkey on our backs of too long without a title at least doubled the energy required. To end that high with an empty stadium celebration and no crowd since has to be deflating. It's not the dream that would have been part of the motivation.
This is the depression that comes after the amphetamines. The inevitable slump with bereavement for Alisson thrown in as well. All this would make sense to me even if the first five choices of central defender hadn't been missing as well (Van Dijk, Gomez, Matip, Fabinho and Henderson) and key midfield roles.
I've loved the last few years so I'm not turning on anybody. To be honest the night at Anfield when we put City out en route to Kyiv was one of the best for me even though we were only runners up. To be honest we played better football with more joy that season by comparison to the title winning machine that ground out results regardless of performance that came later.
The last semi against Barca was superb to be there and we've been given some excellent European nights. It was great to see a team that could win three consecutive titles in the early eighties, but that is a memory to enjoy, not something to use to beat up the present team.
@relentless-red saidI think there is a lot of excuse making going at Anfield and all the Pool fans I know are signing more or less the same tune as you.

As an objective observer I think there is a poor attitude in the first team, one where they just don’t want to work hard enough to win. Negative and complacent.
By the way in reply to your comment “where are all your trophies?” Have a look at who’s won what since 2000 and I think you’ll probably quieten down.
Edit: by the way Chelsea are top with Liverpool in 5th.

It just doesn't scan. If we can pick arbitrary years to count from I chose 2016.
I went to Cardiff when we beat you in the community shield in 2006. What shocked me was all the empty seats at your end. It was Andriy Shevchenko's debut for Chelsea but only a small group could be bothered to travel. You had the better team on paper but your fans lost it for you.
@relentless-red saidI only picked 2000 as it was the millennial and you Pool fans love going back in time to your glory days. They must seem so far away now, especially with Manchester United flying high again.

Tell you what let’s both not go back to previous years and focus on last weekend. How was it for you lot?

@relentless-red saidI agree with this quote and coincidentally I used a version of it in my time as a sales director: “there is first and then there is last equal”.

By the way I admire your passion for your team; I have no such passion just a long passing interest in a team I’ve followed since schooldays.
I’m more of a fair weather supporter, I get fed up when the players turn on their manager and drop their game to oust the manager, as has happened so many times at Chelsea. I believe this is happening at Liverpool.
@divegeester saidIt happens in many different sports when a team want to get rid of the coach especially. They will drop their game a notch and next thing you know, you see a new coach behind the bench. I have seen this many times through the years in hockey.

They know the coach can't get rid of all the players so does the Manager. So leaves him no choice but to get rid of coach. That is why in Hockey very few coaches last that long except for the rare ones.
In most cases there are things going on we as fans know nothing about. You obviously have a problem when the players drop their game to get rid of the coach. Something that has went on for a long time now

@divegeester saidWinning 2-0 away to one of the top German sides but losing 6 at home in a row in the leagues says a lot, things are not well within the camp. You have to blame the players more than Klop, maybe they just don't want to play for him anymore which a rather pathetic considering he delivered their first title in 30 odd years.

@trev33 saidWe still don't know what is going on behind the scenes though trev33. How does he treat everyone, that can be a big issue in Pro sports.

@very-rusty saidI think you are in danger of mistaking this for an objective discussion. Trev and Dive are rival fans (Man U and Chelsea respectively). They are sad because their teams can't mount a title challenge at full strength, so they are basking in our struggles after being nowhere near us for the past three seasons.

@relentless-red saidIf I caught what was being said correctly the player(s) had dropped their game a notch which reflects on the coach or manager who ever you want to place the blame on. I am saying in most cases if the players drop their game they don't like something being done by the coach or manager which ever the case may be.

@very-rusty saidMakes sense, but in reality this has been a freak season for Liverpool. A bit like if you had your first five choices of Quarterback missing for most of the season. 7 or 8 key injuries. Bereavement for the goal keeper and coach in the past month and yet still we are doing better in the European Cup than Chelsea and Man U who haven't challenged for major trophies for some years despite having more to spend on players (8 seasons for Man U). Last season we won the league by 18 points. We were 33 clear of Man U in third. Everybody loves a winner. π
