Here's a player who lacks the courtesy of resigning. His position is hopeless. I have an overwheling material advantage. I can avance my pawns at will. Yet, he refuses to resign, which would free me up to play others, since I am allowed six games maximum. AVOID THIS INCONSIDERATE PLAYER!

there is no problem with not resigning, why should he...there may be a chance that you could make a mistake. i admit that may be unlikely but if he feels that way then he is allowed to play on, its perfectly legal.

I have a suggestion - try subscribing. That way you can play as many games as you want and won't get mad when someone decides not to resign.

So pony up, boy!

If you're beating him that easily, then it should take u no length of time to mate him. Why bitch about him when u can just finish the game off whenever u want. Or are u too lazy to play the endgame?

You're lucky - at least he isn't ofering draws every bloody move as one player I had a game against recently did. Had a material and positional advantage gained while he'd wasted time pushing pawns, he finally realised I was going to mate, and every move came with a draw offer and a begging message until the game ended.

You guys need to lighten up a little. Sure, joining the site like we all did would solve the problem, but this guy just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that kill king is not a good sportsman. No, there's no requirement to resign in the rules, but if the position is hopeless, it is good courtesy.

I might get a draw you cheaky arse, ever heard of stale mate? You can't call me inconsiderate, you don't know me, I never resign, but I do accept defeat when the games over, at the end of the day, chess is a game of skill and brain power!

If this is the game you are talking about (Game 867290), then I would say that your chances of a stalemate are about as good as my chances of laying both the olsen twins at once. Just resign the game and give the baby his bottle.

Let's analyse this thread...
kill king plays like a jerk...
Beorn lets everyone know as a courtesy...
everyone jumps on beorn as though he's done something wrong...
kill king posts a silly statement about playing for a stalemate in a truly hopeless position...
beorn gets called a baby!

you people need some help.

Actually the problem starts when people post personal grievances against other players in a public forum. Beorn wasn't posting as a courtesy, he was complaining.

Then his opponent happens to see it... and away we go...

And then Darvlay, that old wet blanket, mentions that the odds of nailing the Olsen twins are slim to none. That just brought the whole thread down a notch. Now I'm really bummed! :-)

So, to update:

Let's analyse this thread...
kill king plays like a jerk...
Beorn lets everyone know as a courtesy...
everyone jumps on beorn as though he's done something wrong...
kill king posts a silly statement about playing for a stalemate in a truly hopeless position...
beorn gets called a baby...
freddie dreams about the olsen twins...
BLReid harshly judges the thread's participants telling them they need help (psychiatric, i would assume)...
wib insults darvlay calling him a low-brow wet blanket...

did i miss anything? 😉
