The wife has just signed up for ebay and has made her first bid... should I be worried? Anyone have any good or bad experiences in the virtual auction room?

I have had excellent experiences on ebay. Some advice:

When you see an item you are interested in, read the description in detail. Read the info. on payment and shipping method in detail. Check the feedback on the seller, to see any negative comments.

I look at an item and decide what the maximum amount I am willing to pay is, and then stick with that amount.

Keep an eye on the item but do not enter a bid until it's almost closed, and if it goes over you're maximum amount, forget about it.

I usually do not bid at all until the final minute, using an accurate clock to do this, and then I give it one shot, bidding my maximum amount. This has worked very well for me several times. (Don't cut it too close, or your bid will be too late. You have to allow a few seconds because of internet lag-time.)

You may get the item for much less than your maximum bid amount, as the bids are placed in incremental amounts.

Good luck!

regards, Marc

HA! I thought the same thing before I read your post , Mark. Yes, Andrew, welcome to marriage. You've got your toys. She will have hers. 😉 Kirk

"The wife"
I hate terms like that.
Andrew 3 in a bed is not good.(unless you play darts)
The only way to go is:
You put her up for auction.

I once went on there acciedentally and when I came out a window opened asking why did I come off with a multiple choice answer. It had loads of stupid answers so I gave the stupidest one.😛

Watch out - it can be addictive. (And we all know women enjoy shopping at the best of time 😉 )

I used to sell and buy, and never had a problem doing either. All I recommend is that you never set your heart on one item, and drop into the auction in the last few minutes. You can waste a lot of your life checking auctions – when it is only the last few minutes that matter.

Hi Rhymester ... so you have to look after RedHotTed, your wife and your clan ... Man - you won't have any time left for yourself - I may send you a picture of a pub - if you can remember what that is ...

I don't know much about it...but you usually have to pay with a creditcard (when it's send to you by mail...) just like RHP and if you spend to much and you can't pay it all at one time....then the interest will make it very expensive...that's something to worry about I think...to stay below a self-made limit!

The UK breweries took more than enough of my money when I was young (and thirsty) 😉

You can send a cheque I've never paid on ebay with a credit-card. It's to risky even on ebay. 😛
