Isn't salty licorice hard to find in other places, except in the nordic countries?
And surströmming, of course. Don't like it but it's rather unique.

New England clam chowder, rugged coastlines, Maine lobster, annual clambakes in Mattapoisett, marsh wildlife, salt air, swimming at high tide in Dennisport on Cape Cod, fresh blueberry pie, gathering bayberries along the sand dunes of Nauset Beach near the lighthouse, making hand dipped candles for Christmas, air of excitement at the Boylston Chess Club in Boston, southern biscuits, country ham, breakfast in New Orleans, barbecue and rodeos in Houston, top shelf margaritas in San Antonio, anything on or off the menu at The Greek Islands (Jackson and Halsted) in Chicago, exploring old mining towns west of Denver, discovering out of the way/one of a kind ethnic restaurants in San Francisco, driving through the Sierras for a weekend in Reno...

It started in 2004 during the Euro and now some people still leave the same old flags from 2004 hanging out in a balcony or window.
