@mchill saidDo you have any factual evidence to support this and what percentage of the earth are we talking about?
For the last decade over 60% of college students and graduates have been female. Due to their educational credentials' women have moved into management and supervisory positions in business, law and government. Today it's common to have female managers supervising teams of male subordinates in many different fields, just as it's common to see wives as the primary or superior b ...[text shortened]... the information age women have proven their superior skills at managing information, and people. 🙂
@tropicalsweatyboy saidYah, and there is a woman in the WNBA that says they should be paid as much as the NBA players.
Females are underpaid compared to their male counterparts.
Hmmmm...
"Female labor force participation rate The average value for Indonesia during the last two decades was 50.39 percent with a minimum of 45.94 percent in 2006 and a maximum of 53.91 percent in 2019. The latest value from 2022 is 52.66 percent. For comparison, the world average in 2022 based on 176 countries is 50.83 percent." ~ stats from the OECD
While taking that in their stride, Indonesian women averaged 2.19 births each in 2020.
@tropicalsweatyboy saidLet's start with Ranavalona I. During her rule of Madagascar, the population almost halved from 5 million to 2.5 million.
How many female dictators do you know of?
@earl-of-trumps saidWomen's jobs are traditionally paid less and I don't think it is because women are not as productive as men. I think it is because traditionally men have been the family providers. Traditionally sons were given better education than daughters, because the girls were meant to get married and be somebody else's responsibility. And if she didn't marry, then often her only chance was to work as a schoolteacher or governess. If we, in the modern world, could learn to manage equality between the sexes, it would give much better conditions for coming generations.
It is *unfathomable* to them that women earn less because they are not as productive.
@Torunn
Men are competitive, Torunn, more so than women. Look at RHP for good evidence, as we are highly male here
in a website where the competition is strictly cerebral. And I understand that e-games, which will be in the olympics
in France, can't get enough women to have women's teams. They have to allow some men on the team. Pathetic.
Men are testosterone based, and that alone tells a lot.
@earl-of-trumps [i]said[/iIf so, it is sad. Let women share the responsibilities and let them in on the decision-making - at least in their own families. I live in a very privileged culture - marrying and giving up my job to rely totally on a man never crossed my mind, and that is due to a number of reasons.

Who is preventing women from doing this Torunn.
@the-gravedigger saidWomen who leave their jobs to have a family often lose a bit of the control in the family economy - depending of course on what kind of man they marry. They also lose - and that is very unfortunate - the possibility of having a fair pension when they retire. I see many such cases. That situation never was in my mind when I decided to stay single - I have learned it afterwards. And when it is time for these women to retire, they too may live single and will have to live on very little money.

This was not an answer to your question, I know.
@torunn saidSurely this is dependent more on governmental policy on maternity support rather than it being dependent on “what kind of man they marry”?

@divegeester saidMaternity support only goes a part of the way, women normally need to work. It was mentioned by somebody earlier that we should go back to traditional values, I say we can't do that and we don't want to, and men usually don't want it either.

I concur, Torunn, and I think that the only thing that could happen to make us go back, is if our survival depends on it,
like in the aftermath of earth being hit by an asteroid or something. Ain't happening in my lifetime. 😉
