@earl-of-trumps saidDon't you mean 'transgender women'?
@Torunn
Men are competitive, Torunn, more so than women. Look at RHP for good evidence, as we are highly male here
in a website where the competition is strictly cerebral. And I understand that e-games, which will be in the olympics
in France, can't get enough women to have women's teams. They have to allow some men on the team. Pathetic.
Men are testosterone based, and that alone tells a lot.
Consider if you will fictional monsters from books and film. The Frankenstein monster had a female counterpart as did Vanpires , mummies, zombies etc. I don't recall female werewolves and I'm certain no gillwoman was created. King Kong, Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra etc were all males, or exhibited stereotypical behaviors.
Why? The females of their species are homebound, cooking, cleaning, raising young etc while the men are off to work.
Where am I going with this?
Men and a few women are monsters?
@torunn saidIt’s called “choice”. If a women “chooses” to leave work to have a family (as you said), then that choice may have consequences for her career and for her “control of the family economy”.
Maternity support only goes a part of the way, women normally need to work. It was mentioned by somebody earlier that we should go back to traditional values, I say we can't do that and we don't want to, and men usually don't want it either.
However, laws are in place for her (and the father) to get maternity pay AND to be able to return to her work. But ultimately the time she (or he, the father) has away from the work place is time they each “chose” to take off.
Furthermore, if a woman (or a man) “chooses” a partner who will not support them in their mutual life goals, then that too is their choice. Choose better.
So I don’t see what your issue is.
@divegeester saidNo issue, merely a reaction to an earlier poster regarding women's obligations to stay at home as part of a traditional lifestyle.

Man and Woman
Man is the highest of creatures.
The woman is the most sublime of ideals.
God made for man a throne for the woman an altar.
The throne exalts, the altar sanctifies.
Man is the brain.
The woman's heart.
The brain produces the light, the heart produces the Love
Fruitful Light, Love resurrects.
The man is strong by reason.
The woman is invincible by tears.
The reason convinces, tears moving.
Man is capable of all heroism.
Woman of all martyrdom.
Heroism ennobles; sublimates martyrdom.
Man has supremacy.
The woman's preference.
Supremacy is strength, represents the right preference.
The man is a genius.
The woman an angel.
Genius is immeasurable, the angel indefinable.
The aspiration of man is supreme glory.
The aspiration of woman is extreme virtue.
The glory makes everything great, virtue makes everything divine.
Man is a code.
A gospel woman.
The code corrects, the gospel perfects.
Man thinks.
She dreams.
To think is to have a larva in the skull; dream is to have a halo on his forehead.
Man is an ocean.
The woman is a lake.
The ocean has the adorning pearl, the lake, dazzling poetry.
Man is the flying eagle.
She is the nightingale that sings.
Flying is dominate space. Sing is to conquer the soul.
The man is a Temple.
The woman is the Tabernacle.
Before the temple we discover ourselves, we kneel before the Tabernacle.
In short: the man is placed where the land ends.
The woman where heaven begins.
