#2 -- You've obviously never lived next to someone whose dog was home alone all day. The noise would convince you that dogs and cats do know the difference between being alone and having companionship.
#3 -- What do you mean by appreciate (and by separating children from human beings)? This'll be easier to discuss if I understand it.
