The system can be discussed without discussing particular cases.
The discretionary part can and should be bounded, but if we discuss about the rights and wrongs of particular decisions then very little room is left for discretionary modding.
PS: Nazi.
Edit π
I'll ask the costumers to make a grammar nazi uniform for me.

I just would like to see some a more open relationship in mathers of forum bans, that's all.
say something like this:
Loose Screw got a 3 day forum ban for using faul language.
I agree that you can get some arguements about the bounderies (what is faul language?) but it would make things more clear to understand.
Nordlys got a 3 second forum ban for being a nazi.
Loose Screw got a 1 second forum ban for misspelling "foul" repeatedly.
Originally posted by Loose ScrewI agree; if someone is banned they should be informed why and for which post. There was a similar "discussion" about this a year or so ago and it was said at that time that a standard notification message was being considered.

Did they not get notified?
It does seem very strange to me that when you have been banned, the first you know about it is when you try to post a reply to something else in the forum. [It has happened to a few innocent people in the past, me included]
I don't know of any other forum that operates like that. π

This thread isn't about notifying the banned persons. As far as I know, they were notified (see Nordlys' post).

Originally posted by Loose ScrewYeah, because that's not a massive extrapolation is it? I bet you're an HIV ridden homosexual Jew with a chip on your shoulder.
Lets make the world a police state and everybody is happy??? π
Don't talk about jews, homosexuals, HIV, etc, etc, is that what you want???
Originally posted by Dr StrangeloveI think a PM on this site works better as a warning, when you're "busy" in the threads, than an e-mail notification.

I agree on getting an e-mail notification for the banned player with the reason and length of the forum ban.
But I would also like to see a standard message in the announcements thread so other people know who is banned, how long and what for.
