The two Americans finally reached the remotest place in Indonesia, a tiny hamlet on the flanks of a volcano, on a small island in the eastern part of the archipelago, no electricity, water from a stream, no rice, just sweet potato and some groundnuts under a tree, and they met a gnarly old man, suntanned black, with two teeth. One of the Americans ventured, in slow English: "What did you think of Marjorie Taylor Greene being banned from Twitter?"
My wife-to-be as a 17-yr old spent a year as an exchange student in Kansas. She's from Hamburg. The Kansans asked her whether they have refrigerators in Germany. True story.

About 10 or more years ago, a poster called Scriabin [who, after crossing swords with me many a time eventually started a thread which essentially declared 'It's FMF or it's me' and people supported me, so he left] and he once got so bent out of shape in a discussion that he shelved the topic and instead suggested that my intellect had atrophied because I lived among Asians.

Examples, please!
Applying some complex Gaussian optics equations it is possible to show that a Goldfish may need reading glasses in its 30s rather than 10 years later in its 40s.

However this outcome is dependent on:

a) the thickness of the bowl at its lower, mid and upper points I.e. providing the refractive power of the bowl
b) the refractive index of the bowl’s material (glass of plastic)
c) the focal plane of the eye of the goldfish I.e. which part of the bowl/lens it is peering through
d) the distance of the goldfish’s eye from the bowl
e) the level of desire of the goldfish to appear younger than it is to a casual observer outside of the bowl

Are they able to wear contact lenses?
Can laser eye surgery be performed underwater?

This would have been covered in the 3rd series of Stingray but, alas, the show was cancelled.
