Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway....it's from the book. Must see.

I heard Bukowski hated that film, specifically Mickey Rourke. That's probably why I haven't seen it yet...

Definitely. Noodles, you can't miss a film that involves death/grim reaper playing chess on a beach.

No... I don't think I have seen any films involving chess.

Big fan of Bukowski here. I've real all of his novels and a lot of his poetry. Post Office was my favorite of his novels. Also check out Ask the Dust by John Fante (skip the movie, it sucked).

Searching for Bobby Fischer is the only chess movie I've seen.

Well, if you like drinking stories, Trees Lounge (my earlier suggeston) is not to be missed.

Check out Bukowski: "Born Into This" [DVD]
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0342150/

Hour and a half long biographical documentary. Got it last year. Excellent.

I need to see that. Passed over it so many times in the video store. If you think it's worth seeing, I'll get it.

Weird... I was just about to write that I got a DVD of "Il Postino" ("The Postman", although most likely not the one you are talking about) today. Wonderful film, although a bit misplaced in this thread as I think it was quite highly rated.

Wild Strawberries is on my list of things to see, but I've never actually seen it. Going to be renting some vids this weekend. I think I'll get "Wild Strawberries" and "Trees Lounge".
