36 BLUR - Parklife Anyone that puts 2 Oasis albums ahead of Parklife, or in fact anything by Blur, should be publically hung drawn and quartered
37 BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - Born to Run Groan, maybe it's just me, but in between his 'Real men of genius' style vocals and complete lack of lyrics that have anything to say to me, I find Springsteen pretty farging rubbish
38 BILLIE HOLIDAY - Lady Sings the Blues Should perhaps have been higher
39 THE WHITE STRIPES - Elephant
40 BLACK SABBATH - Paranoid
41 THE SPECIALS - Specials
42 THE ROLLING STONES - Exile on Main Street

100 The HUMAN LEAGUE - Dare! Umm, yeah....umm...
No 'Abbey Road'!?!? No 'Dummy'? No 'Felt Mountain', 'Axis:Bold as Love', 'Songbird' or 'The Wall'? No 'Second toughest in the Infants'? I'm a little worried about what constitutes a 'Best Album' nowadays.
i just find it impossible to compare old classics (Frank Sinatra!) with really recent albums. still, here's a few personal opinions:
56 PRINCE - Sign 'o' the Times
should be much higher IMO
and where is purple rain?
i liked the woman (radio 1 dj) who said she fundamentally didn't trust anyone who says they don't like prince.
79 GEORGE MICHAEL - Faith
listen without prejudice is much better IMO
no STING at all (just synchronicity)?
'...nothing like the sun' should definitely be on here somewhere

Ironically, the live version I have of 'Death or Glory' features Joe Strummer asking for requests and then sneering "That one was done by Duran Duran--get your facts straight!" That particular inversion is most disturbing.
Ok everyone, from the above list, infer what Starrman's preferred order would be and tell me what the signature of the permutation giving the real list is π.

Definitely DSoTM at number one for me.
Others I'd put up there would include:
1 Giant Leap
Miles Davis - Kinda Blue
Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
- The Wall
Oh and so many others, I could go on forever.
But not Radiohead π
'Kind of Blue'
awesome album i agree but i'm guessing this list doesn't include jazz ...
otherwise there are quite a few more obvious omissions!

I'm glad it was 'Brothers In Arms' -- I really like three Dire Straights songs, and can't stomach the rest. One of the former is the title track.
Always liked Sultans of Swing and occasionally partial to Romeo and Juliet if I'm feeling soppy.
EDIT: Which I should state is very rarely.
It's pretty obvious it's a BRITISH list. Not that I'm complaining about the entries as a rule, but you can tell.
I take some comfort in seeing Radiohead at number one. OK Computer did, after all, win just about every 'album of the year' award going. And the other artists I really like never stand a chance in this kind of thing.
