So my count:

hun-ger eats bel-ly (5)
knob-bly drench-ed in but-ter (7)
Re-fresh-ing fil-ler (5)

Where did I go wrong?

"Drenched" is pronounced "drencht", one syllable.

Similarly, "marked" is pronounced "markt" (one syllable), but "markedly" is pronounced "mark-ed-ly", three. Not easy for a non-native speaker.

There is a rule somewhere. 🙂 We non-native speakers rely heavily on grammatical rules, and memory. 🙂 In this case I would guess it has to do with pronunciation. You choose the easiest way.
