@lemondrop saidYes - Every day of Jr. High School (and the bully's therein) was another exercise in depression.
how did you handle it?
How did I handle it? Well - the belt was my parents favorite "child development" tool, it was either go to school and deal with it, or experience another round of "child development" We didn't have safe zones, or grief counselors back then.
@lemondrop saidIf you feel shut-down physically and/or mentally (e.g., going around with your eyes half-closed) and have been that way for a couple of weeks, please see a doctor about it, get some blood tests done, maybe even consider taking an antidepressant if prescribed.

@the-gravedigger saidWhat a bottom-of-the-barrel post. I'm disappointed in you, Gravedigger. You still have about 55 minutes to rewrite that into something better.

@kevin-eleven saidAnti depressants are readily available from a wide variety of sources.

Its easy to self medicate if thats your thing.
@the-gravedigger saidYou seem to be making light of a serious condition, and suggesting that people should medicate themselves rather than seek professional help. Is that correct?

@kevin-eleven saidI'm saying a lot of people do self medicate.

I am not a mental health professional so I am not suggesting any form of treatment.
I don't think a chess forum is the place to come for medical advice.

If you get down during the winter you might want to try vitamin D.
My wife was on antidepressants but had to stop them when she got pregnant and has never gone back to them.
What she said really helped her was a combination of vitamin D and Rhodiola.
