EXACTLY...
Crowly banned someone he didn't like for disseminating ETHNIC slurs against his own ethnicity.
I find that particulalry ironic considering Crowley recently had an avatar that made fun of the handicapped. An avatar that many would find more offensive than the ETHNIC slurs in question. (That doesn't make the ethnic slurs right. Just an ob ...[text shortened]... edicated on the promulgation of negative RACIAL stereotypes and slurs, AND no one says a word.
I'm still not sure what set him off, it was totally unlike widget if you ask me. I'd never seen him do anything like that. I also feel he should know better than to do something like that.

Is that part of his job as a moderator? Yes.
I fail to see the relevance of what country he's from, his past avatars or whether of not he liked the poster. He did what he was supposed to do as a moderator.
The key question here is, IN THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION, what action should a totally and completely unbiased moderator take? If you answer that question honestly, I think you'll find that what he did was right.
I have nothing against widget. He's a good addition to the forums, unlike you and your crappy self-serving dime store logic.

Jesus people, it's just a 3-day ban from a chess forum, it's not three years in the gulag. I've been banned many times, often for things that I haven't agreed with (7 days for once slightly obfuscating the f-word, 3 days for writing 'dick'๐. It's greatly inconsistent, subjective and varies from moderator to moderator but really, it's not a big deal - who cares?
Originally posted by Red NightWidget got banned for slurs against an entire country, not an ethnicity. Not to mention personal assaults on people who live in that country. That geriatric drunk was playing the fool on the internet because if he said half the crap he was spouting in real life he'd have had the crap kicked out of him before he could remember to whine "You wouldn't hit an old man with glasses, would you?"

The other points you make about a clan or an avatar are not the issue. If they offend you, send feedback - don't compare every case to what someone else got away with. If society worked that way people would be allowed to murder freely because there has been a precedent set by people who have gotten away with it in the past.
Edit - I will gladly take a three day forum ban for the above assault on Widget's character, if deemed necessary - but it pales in comparison to the garbage he was throwing around. Also, throwing Swift into the mix was just stupid since the thing was written as a satire to point out what a bunch of retards the British were being in Ireland at the time.
In a thread about widgets banning, Catfoodtim posted a question to Sietse asking if it was only Jews that he had problem with people offending, and were the Irish fair game.
I posted a response that said Sietse couldn't see past his own nose, a term to mean that he couldn't see others problems, just his own.
This post was both alerted and deleted, obviously someone (i wonder who) thought it was offensive enough to be deleted.....and the mods did so.
I find the suggestion that the mods are biased laughable.

If you are implying it was me, trust me I did not. Beyond your nose,
by the way, is the FACT that I clearly indicated catfood that I was not
even discussing widget's ban (which I haven't done so far, by the way)
but ONLY my 'affair' with Crowley.
So, can you see beyond your nose?
