A Prophecy Against Philistia
Ezekiel 25:15-17 In the movie he quotes verse 17
15 "This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'Because the Philistines acted in vengeance and took revenge with malice in their hearts, and with ancient hostility sought to destroy Judah, 16 therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Kerethites and destroy those remaining along the coast. 17 I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the LORD , when I take vengeance on them.' "

I was but I have not seen the movie sense I became a Christian 2002 of March is how long I have been a Christian. But I had fast forward the movie to that part to get the verse he quoted.

I also find sensoring what I see and hear to be a challenge. Especially what my kids watch. That is why I have got rid of my tv all together we instead have game time and story hour an hour before they have to go to bed we all sit and read a story...we recently read about Job and how he was faithful regardless of the tasks put in front of him. We are not perfect I thank God that He is a God of second and third chances.

In the context of that scene, is Julius a righteous character in your view?

Did Morgan Freeman quote more? It seems that his quotes were longer than what Rob posted but Morgan Freeman could have read very sloooowly 🙂

I'm pretty sure he didn't quote anything at all in that movie.

Here is the quote:

There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you." I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. .45 here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that shit ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin, Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.

In case anyone is interested the bible verse was not exactly Ezekiel 25:17. If anybody finds this a problem, feel free to email Quentin Tarantino.

I was crushed when I read Ezekiel 25:17 and noticed the discrepancies 🙁.

Poetic license strikes again 🙂

I would email Mr. Tarantino but he might want to cast me as a vampire in his next Dusk To Dawn movie 🙂
