The post that was quoted here has been removedwhy should there be a separate yorkshire identity ? If I am born there do I have such an identity? How about if I die there or was only conceived there (on the moors one night when the last german bomber crashed there and my mother ovulated with the excitement of it all), identity-wise? If I had a yorkshire identity I would probably, you are right by insinuation, be proud of it. But I am more proud to be british and to be a subject of the Queen. So why should having a yorkshire identity make my 'higher feelings of allegiance to the british queen' weaken this.
