You are clearly mad. Not only is Empire a better film than New Hope, but the idea that attack of the clones is better than Jedi shows that while the force is strong in you, you still have much to learn lest you stray to the dark side.
original trilogy. It got progressively better after the eye candy in the
opening sequence and what I felt to be the hiccoughing pace.
I still feel that the Darth Maul vs Qui Gon/Obi Wan fight is the best in
the sextet, even though I feel that that movie suffered from the weakest
delivery (although it shouldn't have; Attack of the Clones had the weakest
plot).
I will spare everyone an exegetical survery on the new trilogy until a few
weeks go by, to allow everyone a chance to see it.
However, I will comment on Starrman's observation that Empire is a better
movie.
I feel that Empire is better acted, better filmed, better directed, and better
produced. However, Empire is totally reliant on both ANH and ROTJ;
it is what you call the 'arsis' of the narrative arch which is relieved by the
'thesis' of ROTJ.
However, ANH suffers (if that is the right term) from no such 'inter-relative'
requirement. Within ANH, the arsis-thesis pair is created, climaxes and is
resolved. Furthermore, on a more mesoscopic scale, it begins a larger arch
which is utilized by TESB which, at the end of the movie, reaches its climax.
As such, ANH can be legitimately viewed as the better movie, because, within
its own narrative arch it reaches completion. TESB needs ROTJ and,
as such, suffers (again, not precisely the right word) for it.
Had TESB and all the subsequent movies never been made, ANH would still be
a great movie, for it creates tensions and relieves them, fulfilling the expectation.
The same cannot be said for TESB, for it requires the fulfillment reached at the
end of ROTJ.

HALLELUJA!!!
But there will be more Star Wars!
Oh yes, there's gonna be a TV series. They're going to start shooting that next year. It will take place between ROTS and ANH.
Clone Wars TV series was OK, or so I've heard.
Originally posted by NemesioI don't totally disagree with any of your comments Nem. In the same way in which a piece of music requires different periods and should urge for resolution, so too should a good film. ROTJ is necessary if we consider the context of the trilogy to bring about that resolution and indeed ANH sets the stage for the questions, tension and sub-plots which are begun in Empire and are completed in ROTJ.

However I question using the parameter of self completion as a category for rating a film. In a trilogy (which supposedly it was conceptualised as) I feel the first film should offer a lot more questions and unfinished scenes which will set the ground work for the next film. ANH did not do this (apart from 'what happened to Darth Vader?'😉 and as such the stage must be reset for Empire with new information, locations and characters etc. In this way, I feel ANH failed to come up with the goods. If it had been a film on its own, then I agree it has everything and in my opinion only a more artistic director and replacing Mark Hammil with a piece of cardboard would have made it any more enjoyable; he's so wooden it would be an improvement (and all you people out there who are about to flame me, go watch it again, if Solo wasn't cast so brilliantly, Skywalker would have bored the pants off you "😉. But the lack of encouragement for the remaining films is to its detriment IMO. This is why I would place it below Empire, which as a second film of a trilogy not only fulfills that role admirably, but also kicks Dark Side butt as a piece of cinematographic history.

This movie was AWESOME!!!
No real Star Wars fan will be disappointed here.
Lucas has redeemed himself.
I rate this film in a dead heat with Empire for the best ever. The rest of the pack as follows:
3. A New Hope
4. Return of the Jedi
5. Attack of the Clones
6. The Phantom Menace
I hope that you all get to see this movie soon. As one critic has already said "This IS the movie that Star Wars fans have been waiting for!"

With the exception of Palpatine, in the pre-Sibious stages, all acting was quite poor and in the beginning the pace was all wrong.
It had great moments: when Sibious and Yoda are rising in the Senate, the confrontation in the lava world and the manipulation of Anakin by Palpatine, but lacked consistency.
The fight with Grieveous could have been so much better, Obi-wan "accidentally" hits the self-destruct button (what was that???), the elevator scene in the beginning, the scenery falling on Obi-wan in the Palpatine rescue (horrible), no sense of magnitude in the wars...
This was by far the story with the most potential and it was thrown away into a third/fourth place in the saga...
Am I the only one disappointed?

The film is for kids. The first film I ever saw in a cinema was The Empire Strikes Back, and I loved it but the films aren't as relevant to me now since I gained adulthood.
My little sister loved it though; she dressed as Darth Vader: very brave, don't think I would have had the stones.

Did you notice theat Grieveous was coughing alot? He was semi-organic and therefore had internal organs (respiratory), and Obi-wan basicallay shot him in the heart, and not by accident.
That's how it was explained to me anyway.
