Having heard rumours that Marmite is in fact edible, despite looking remarkably like tar, I bought some yesterday. It didn't taste too bad, but then I really worry for people who get through pots and pots of the stuff - I spread about 1g of it on a slice of bread, along with plenty of margarine, and it still tasted strong enough. How does it taste so salty with only 5% sodium?
Hmm, I wonder how Marmite goes with that other strongly-flavoured English condiment, Colman's Mustard.
