I just ask that people be aware of the consequences of what they say are. Before it is uttered consider what impact it may have on the person being confronted. Will it hurt their feelings? Make them angry? Insult them? etc... Try to be above it and be considerate of others.
I was named after my grandfather who was a very wonderful person. I can not help but t be offended even when I try not. I am as thick skinned as any one else.
That being said, lets put this one to bed.

Ok,so that didn't work too well.I cracked after a mere 3 days 😳
Good,well,not good,but it showed me I can't do it on my own,I need help.A very friendly person here informed me about the Allan Carr method: EASYWAY.I followed his online course,20$,and I must say,the guy talks sense.I have renewed courage and spirit.I will go to bed shortly and when I wake up I will sacrificially burn what's left in the pack of cigs (not part of the method) and start my life again as I did 32 years ago: a non-smoker.
If at first you don't succeed......

I quit smoking myself 2 1/2 years ago ... The only advice I can give you is
Never give you giving up (well, stolen from Allan Carrs' book)
I needed uncountable efforts to finally succeed, but if a Slow Pawn can I'm sure a Sir Lot can do too

I can't say I'm winning the war on flab, Chas. No way. Sorry. I get terrible munchies, and usually bow to the pressure - especially late at night when playing chess!
For the last 10 years my waist size has been keeping perfect pace with my age. Yikes!
I know what I should be doing though - drinking water and plenty of it - rather than the soft ...[text shortened]... ht.
I saw "Super Size Me" the other day - must draw on this film for inspiration! Soon.

Keep workin' on it Sir Lot! We all have faith in you. Even if it takes a year for you to weekly post here that you are beginning again!
The last time I seriously tried to quit I bet a co-worker on a month of not smoking. That's the only way I've found to do it, because I am a very competitive person. I made it the month...then smoked the next day! 😳 But I WON the bet, that was the important part, lol! So the next time I am serious about quitting I'll bet again and hopefully it'll work out better. Maybe I'll bet a month and a half the next time or something.
