How many shillings were there in a guinea in Great Britain before it was replaced by the pound in 1816?
I gather, but am not certain, that up to then the pound had mostly been a unit of account and most trade was done with shillings or notes promissory; there weren't many pound coins, historically. And guineas, even then, were used for Upper Class Dealings.
