Good news, did my taxes early!
Bad news, now the money is spent!

Had them done in mid-Feb. Got wired the funds by the end of Feb.

Cost just under $300, but got more than 1k back. Made many a home
improvement.

It's worth the money not to do them yourself when you have multiple
W2s, a kid, dividends, savings, and a home business.

Well it may not save you much. Turbo charges me $59 to do the fed return and $25 for the state. I kinda like doing'em though. My wife does the record keeping during the year and then all I have to do is put it all together. The thing I really like is being able to do it from my home pc. It's really just about convienance for me.

I recommend it though.
If you think about it you would be cheaper with the tax agent doing them for you.

Take these into account -

How long does it take you to get all the paperwork sorted out and put together? Say 2 hours.

How much do you get paid per hour? Say $30 per hour

Multiply these together to get the notional cost for doing it yourself. $60

Add this to cost of Turbo $84 and your overall cost is $144.

The time you lose doing your tax return could be spent doing something more productive - like playing chess.

I am slightly biased being a personal tax manager in UK, but like I always say "plumbers for plumbing, electricians for your electrics, mechanics to sort your car and tax specialists to do your tax."

Pick the right man/woman for the right job!

Tha Canadian Tax people are after me.
I worked there for just over a year. I was exempt from provincial tax, and federal tax was taken from my salary. Then someone tells me I have to fill in a tax return! WTF? I didn't have a clue what to do so I paid someone. This year I get a tax return in the post again but I am back home in England so there is no-one who can do the form for me. Plus, I have my tax summary that my employer gave me when I left, but no other receipts. Even if I did I wouldn't know what was a deduction.
I think I will just post the form back with a copy of my tax summary and see what happens.
