With a definition like that, we'd all be trolls.
Show me one user on here that is not guilty!
But if you'd been paying attention, I've been saying this exact thing for some time now.
Remember my post a while back about the monkeys, cold water and the banana?
The forums here are a breeding ground for trolls, since very few posts (in comparison to the total) come through that are not inflammatory to some degree, and the well-written flame is heartily encouraged here. And yes, I fully recognize that I get sucked up into it and have posted my share of flames. The forums here could make Job lose his patience.
Whether one agrees with adamforall or not, there is no denying that posting a statement calling one's religious belief system rubbish is inflammatory, and anyone with half an ounce of brains in his head should expect an argument, at least. I've slung the insults around as well as anybody, but religion is too close to home. When I was a kid, if you said that (what adamforall said) in school, you'd come home with your nose bloodied. Just like calling someone's mama a fat slut. Just like burning the American flag at a Teamster's meeting. I'm sure you get my point.
rbmorris is correct, the US flag and eagle in my avatar stand for freedom. Freedom to do what you want, to say what you want, within reason.
Calling my religion rubbish is *not* reasonable, and I am not going to stand for it, and if people have a problem with me calling him out on it, then guess what? That's just too bad. There is a thing called personal responsibility. Make a statement designed to inflame, and you deserve everything you get. It's like the song says. "You don't spit into the wind, and you don't tug on Superman's cape."
You expect respect for your belief that my religion is rubbish? Then give me the same respect by *not calling* my religion rubbish. Tolerance starts before you open your mouth, not after.

He has every right to go to a KKK meeting and stand up and proclaim "I love African-Americans and Jews!" Would he do it? Of course not.
Originally posted by SuzianneIn my opinion, a thick skin is sometimes necessary for the forums here.

If your request for religious matters to be off limits in the General forum were expressed another way, I might agree. However, it seems that you immediately launched into personal attacks when a view contrary to yours was put forth.
The thread that provoked this one began as a link to a photo of an ironic readerboard. It has drifted from there, as do most threads.
Originally posted by SuzianneI am guessing that this is supposed to be some sort of analogy. Are you saying these are Christian forums, and therefore non-Christians shouldn't speak their mind here?

His original post wasn't even directed at you, it was a general statement on his view of the effects of religion. He is free to post a general statement about his disdain for religion, as is anyone else. I, for one, happen to agree with him, am I now trolling?
That you hold religion close to your heart is your choice, but it doesn't imbue with a right to say what others can and cannot say about religion, when expressing their opinions about it.
Your example of a KKK meeting is bizarre, are you suggesting RHP forums are equivalent? Even if you aren't, are you suggesting that this is a Christian forum and he shouldn't stand up and say he thinks religion is bad? If not, what in the hell do you mean?
