In Germany license plates are made up by the abbreviation of the town followed by 1 or 2 letters followed by a number.
Stuttgart has S, the evident license plates are S-EX 1
Fuessen has FU FU -CK is made from this
My mum's is 'CZABA', which is apparently Hungarian for 'the wanderer', although I'm not sure why she chose Hungarian or indeed why she applied that moniker to a car she drives 3 miles to work and back every day and little else.
