what happens in a clan. do you have to be really good or something. What's a siege??
Join up , kid ! What else you got to do ? It's better than glue sniffing .

The excellent thing about clans (you can join more than one) is, if you have an active clan leader, you find yourself with plenty of games against opponents around your skill level. If you pick one of the better ones you might also find chess help from the better players, and perhaps a sense of pride (and shame) when you win or lose points for your clan.
A siege is a little harder to explain. They revolve around a number boards which one can choose to fight for by joining the queue. If, when your turn comes around, you defeat the man of the moment, you then turn around and begin fighting off the queue yourself until you're defeated. I believe the site keeps track of who has held each particular board for the longest consecutive games.
There are also the tournaments, which are good fun too. So join, mate. I'll wager you won't regret it.
