Thanks, Pink. Wondering if this revised estimate of the good and evil

mix on earth may, in your view, also generally apply in cyberspace?

Heavens no! Cyberspace is like rock and roll drummers and the platypus: an entity unto itself. It may not be populated by "evil", but lies, myths, and platitudes run rampant.

Pink Floyd, thanks for keeping our conversation alive with your interesting points of view. Two questions: 1) If earth and cyberspace are both populated by human beings (and globally a high percentage of the selfsame human beings) why is their collective behavior profile in each realm so dramatically different? 2) Specifically, what possibly accounts for "More like 25% good, 70% neutral and 5% pure evil" on earth and "... like rock and roll drummers and the platypus: an entity unto itself... may not be populated by 'evil', but lies, myths, and platitudes run rampant" only a few keyboard clicks away in cyberspace?[/b]

I chalk both up to the anonymity of these computer thingies we're using. There's no way under the shining sun that people would say many of the things they post on these forums (myself included) in a public setting. But here, behind this monitor-mask, one can become anybody---a 300 lb. warhawking neo-con bully; a socialist bleeding-heart pinko; a rainbow warrior; a Marine with 3 purple hearts; an unwed mother trying to put herself through college....it's endless. So I guess I would differ on point one: earth is populated by human beings; but cyberspace? No, just puffs of logic.

I like to portray a Nigerian Princess who needs help converting her ten-figure inheritence (a cool thousand million [it really does just dance off the tongue, doesn't it?]) into cash.
