Get smashed?
Throw a big old bash?
Are we all invited to the bash?
If my band does win on Thursday, you are *all* invited to the bash! And if you're feeling adventurous, PM me your phone number - you might receive a drunken overseas phone call, just in time for Christmas! If we don't win, I might get drunk, call you and tell you a dirty joke anyway. Bon chance!
Anyway, thanks for the words of encouragement!

Something tells me Mr. PBE6 did very well at his competition last night. Maybe it was the drunk message left on my answering machine at about 1 a.m. shouting "YOU'RE LOSERS! ALL OF YOU, LOSERS! I'M A WINNER!". But I can't really tell.
I bet you he pulled out the on-the-shoulders-of-the-guitarist bass solo last night. He's been working on that one for months.

He won a trip to the Finals in March, I believe. And some cash. When I called him this morning he was on the road. No idea when he'll get to post!
We won by unanimous decision last night!! And we got $1000 cash in addition to the birth at the national finals at Canadian Music Week in March. It still hasn't sunk in yet, maybe it will when I start getting free coffee at Tim Horton's in Hamilton, maybe it will when the Nike endorsements roll in, who can say?
I had a blast last night. For those that care, here's a quick recap of the bands:
1 - Breathe - a heavy band, a Finger11-ish four-piece with 2 guitars, bass and drums, 1 lead and 1 backup singer. Pretty tight band, but apparently they've been in the same competition 3 times in a row and have lost every time. Losers. Maybe they should take the hint?
2 - Holiday - a teen punk-band six-piece, all with wireless gear. They looked the part, and they moved all around the stage (and the bar), but they sounded like crap. Brought back memories of Grade 10 sleepovers.
3 - Ripped - by far the worst band of the night. A crappy five-piece, a female singer wearing pleather pants, a bass player that looked like a jack-in-the-box without the whimsy, a guitar player who looked like a surf board salesman, a kid who obviously answered an add for this band, and a drummer who looked like a biker on vacation. Oh, did I mention they sucked?
4 - Rustic - a four-piece from Toronto, with a lead singer who looked like he'd spent 3 straight years at the gym and smelled like he was just about to shower. Serious mullet, handle-bar goatee, headband and wife-beater complete with skull added to the odour. Other than that, a tight band. Too bad the lead singer was worried more about pacing up and down the stage like a panther looking for cougars than writing good songs.
5 - Daylight for Deadeyes - Us! We played our hearts out, had lots of fun, I got up my guitar player's shoulders for a bass solo, the guitar player got on the speakers for his. Compliments all around. Oh, did I mention we won? We won.
So I am pleased as punch right now. Thanks to y'all for the kind words, it made a world of difference. Now, if I could just learn to play chess...
