@wolfgang59 saidOh I am correct about you being disrespectful no doubt about that one!
You think wrong.

@very-rusty saidRather stupid analogy.
There are seven million registered bicycle riders in Beijing and 6.5 million in Shanghai. In most places bicycles outnumber cars at least 10 to 1.
Does that mean the rest of the world will turn to bicycles?
An electric car is still a car.
Does everything you want a car to do (except screw up the atmosphere).
A bike isn't replacing anything.
However ... electric scooters may ....
@wolfgang59 saidDoesn’t that depend on where the electricity comes from? If it comes from a fossil fuel powered station then the electric car is simply moving the pollution from the area where the wealthy person with the electric car and the infrastructure to fuel it lives, to the area where the power station is.

@rookie54 said"Buy"? The nastiness of Denmark's provocatively female PM brings the military option into play, methinks. The Inuit are on the verge of suddenly becoming a parasitic ethnic minority despised by The Base. Volcanoes are a Chinese hoax. They admitted as much in a beautiful call.
buy greenland

@divegeester saidObviously.
Doesn’t that depend on where the electricity comes from?
But apart from USA every country is moving away from fossil fuel for electricity.
Didn't UK have a day recently totaly powered by renewables?
Denmark is almost 100% wind power.
Most (all?) EU countries are committed to renewable energy.
NZ is mainly hydro.
@wolfgang59 saidDenmark is tiny on the car consumption scale and hardly worth even mentioning really at least not in the big scheme of things...other than to tip a nod in their direction.
Obviously.

The Americas, China, Japan and Europe, Indonesia, India represent probably the most of the global fuel consumption and these countries, continents, are no where near attaining Denmark’s record renewable or non fossil fuel energy provision.
Two underlying problems however are a lack of appetite for nuclear power and the big elephant on the room, infrastructure. In the UK, and I presume other car consuming countries, there is no where near the required infrastructure to support a significant uplift in electrically powers vehicles.

@divegeester saidIf NZ can do it with its low population density then Europe

can do it. The per capita cost would not be more.
City councils and supermarkets having charging stations
in car parks and of course many petrol stations do also.

@wolfgang59 saidWhat are the stats for NZ in terms of % penetration of electric cars correlated with clean electricity?

@divegeester saidSince we got ours we seem to see them all the time. Especially the kids!
What are the stats for NZ in terms of % penetration of electric cars correlated with clean electricity?
But obviously it is still a small minority.
At least 75% of our electricity is clean. Mainly hydro,
some geo-thermal and increasingly wind.
The government have announced an incentive scheme.
And as I said before, councils and supermarkets are being pro-active.

@very-rusty saidYou are constantly taking digs at Andy about your perception of him as old. Where is your respect there?
You're very disrespectful, I am sure my respect for you has lessened from where it was with your rude statement. I think you just have disrespect for older people in general.
Like I said lets see how the electric cars go.
NZ isn't the rest of the world believe it or not!
There are around a half a billion bicycles in China---about 1 bicycle per household---more th ...[text shortened]... to happen. Just because something is happening in one Country doesn't mean it will go global.

You are constantly taking digs at Suzianne about her gender. Where is your respect there?
For over a decade you referred to non-subscribers as 'scum.'......You get the picture.
@wolfgang59 saidSo your analogy of NZ having electric cars was brilliant, means all the other countries are going to switch?
Rather stupid analogy.

I am telling you they would have to spend a lot of money on locations for people going long distance which could go well into the billions of dollars. I don't think it is going to happen any time soon or in our life time.
I bike has a motor and is run by gas, a bicycle is all leg powered!!! 😉
I don't see the scooters taking over anytime soon, just wishful thinking

@divegeester saidThere is no debate about climate change being human driven.
Iceland sits on top of the Atlantic ridge and there is a constant flow of molten magma from the mantle to the surface. Iceland is the most actively volcanic area in the world with eruptions occurring on average every four years and although the land mass is relatively small a staggering 33% of all lava of the Earth’s lava flows flow through is volcanic systems. Do you think it possible that other factors other than just global CO2 levels may be in play here?
-> None at all <-
Stop watching fox dude.

Go get some more information on our banters through out the years, you will find they give as well as they get most times! 😛 😉
Now be quiet about things you know nothing about.
We are trying to talk about things in the future, the electric car as an example which is a good idea but we will not see it take over the gas operated vehicles in our life time in my opinion

If you have anything useful to contribute then don't say anything! Sound familiar?
