To be clear and fair to you, are you excluding all instances of "wondering"?
Did you read that article I posted earlier? It was an interesting read. There are a lot more like that to be found with Google.

Originally posted by divegeesterI'm seeing one instance of me asking you on page 3. Unless you're counting "You sure? You wouldn't rather see a rock the size of New York plummet to earth and end humanity?" as two distinct questions. Which would be weird, seeing how I didn't get an answer to "You sure?" before asking the second question.

That leaves me with the page 4 instance. Could you copy/paste that particular moment?

Are you saying that when you put a "?" after "you sure" that you are in fact not asking a question?
But it does take a bit of stretching to get to an amount that would qualify as "keep asking", doesn't it? 😉
You know, if at this point you would admit that maybe you were exaggerating with the "keep asking" bit, you wouldn't lose face. You don't have to go the Robbie Carrobie route and defend a ludicrous statement just for the sake of it. It's okay to sometimes admit to mistakes.

Do you think it's important to live for today?
Personally, I try to live in a way that makes me happy. I certainly don’t wake up every day thinking “it might all be over tomorrow”. I have insurances that are meant to help me out when stuff goes bad someday in the future.
Maybe you could explain what it means to “live for today”, specifically when assuming that humanity will probably be gone ~100 years from now.

This is a peculiar sentence.
My point about my daughter? Simply put, I hope my daughter does not live in the age where the earth no longer exists, and I certainly hope when she has a baby it is far down the road when she is older, and married. Plus I don't want to be a grandfather now. lol That was all I was saying, but said it poorly.
But my point was, my daughter who is only 17 years old, one day will have children, now is not an ideal time. So because I want all wonderful things for my daughter, and the whole family in general, I want to believe the world and it's people will go on forever. That is my hope, but it's not what I believe.
However, Diveggester made a great point. We are at 7.4 Billion people now, we are expected to get to 10 Billion and without all that much effort. At some point, technology will have to catch up to do the things that we need and will run out of. Farming is not what it use to be, we have issues with the ozone layer, our oceans are having issues, Polar Ice Caps Melting, the list is endless. And that is not even counting the diseases and new diseases that are coming out all over the world. One of them will eventually be some kind of plague. That alone can wipe us out.
Someone in here said Divegeester had a pessimistic view of things. I think I read that? lol I'm tired so maybe I am wrong. I am just saying I believe one day the earth will not be able to sustain life. I would bet on lack of resources before anything and I would include disease as well. Just to many things that are wrong, and can go wrong for humans and the earth to go on forever.
But I love my daughter, I want her to have a full life, and have children, but not now. lol She is way to young, and I am to young to be a grandfather. 🙂 The thread is a great idea and discussion piece i think. Anyone who is interested in Science and understands the field, it would be great to get their point of view as well. 🙂
Now if there is no sun? What would we make with technology to take the place of the sun which keeps humans and everything that lives alive? I don't see us losing the sun before resources or disease gets us first.

Making use of all your time, don't waste time when you could be doing something that would make you happy, or your loved ones happy. What "we" do will vary from person to person. But I don't wake up thinking I have to do this or that because I am going to die. lol lol Just make the best use of your time in a manner that makes you happy. That's all really. And in my humble opinion, our world will Not be gone in a 100 hundred years. We are a long ways away from being extinct.

Of course I could be wrong, but I hope not. If that was to happen that quickly in a 100 years, my opinion would be due to some kind of plague. There is no evidence suggesting we are losing our sun anytime soon, and although resources are lower then previous years, I don't see us running out of time that fast. A plague or a meteor so big dropping from the sky, and several of them I would think, then maybe I can see everything gone in a hundred years. But again, I don't think we are anywhere that close to extinction. But I have no evidence to back this claim up. Sorry? 🙂 I love Discover magazine as it goes into detail about topics like this, and it explains it so everyone can understand it. It's amazing how far we have come since the world's fair held in Paris, France, from April 15th to November 12th 1900, to celebrate the achievements of the past century, and to view the development into the next. We have come such a long way, it's just amazing.
