@fmf saidBoth meat and plants are good for health and long life if consumed in the right proportions. Extremists on both sides suffer in one way or the other.
I am just polishing off a late-evening bowl of homemade vegetable soup. Nothing but plants. Delicious.
I think recent studies are overturning some preconceived notions about
- cholesterol and taking statins to reduce it.
- fat free or low fat diets and not good for the heart and brain
- animal fats are actually good for you.
- vegetable fats is the killer
More importantly living a full life with good social and family relationships, stress free work, relaxing, doing something for your brain, having a few drinks, get out of the city, help the needy and be generous when asked.
Everything in moderation and with good sense.

@rajk999 saidThe meat I eat the most is chicken and a close second would be fish. I eat some beef, and hardly any mutton or pork [these days, anyway]. There is also dog, horse, rabbit and snake here but I rarely partake.

@fmf saidChicken in your part of the world should be good. The American type [which we get here sometimes] is disgusting. Fish is the best, especially the fatty type. Yes, about the weird tastes over there. We dont have that here in the Caribbean.

@rajk999 saidThe chicken I eat is mostly free range [ayam kampung] and a bit grey although not as grey as duck which is a kind of meat I eat that I omitted from my list. Duck's great: I don't know what it's not as popular as chicken - it's more or less the same price.

@fmf saidLots of that around here, as well as the ducks .. very popular indeed and all free range, very little of the mass-produced stuff
