Now, tell me, how is it going in the Lonesome Star state? Dry and safe after the storm? I heard some stories about how serious it got.

As for being dry and safe, thanks for your concern. Living in north Texas, Hurricane Ike only doused us with some rain which is always a good thing here.
Houston and Galveston got the brunt of it. Last I heard there were still 500 fellow Texans who decided to ride out the storm on Galveston island who have not been found, presumably, they were washed out into the Gulf and perished.

Yup, so it was Houston mainly then. My mate F. told me he had to go to the basement with cans, water and lamps for quite some time.
Oh I guess that flat in South Padre Island was not a good idea after all!
