It is alright to come out. You don't have to do it now or here. Take your time.

Funny, isn't that what I told you about your problem...LOL...

You could find something more original, than copying me, couldn't you? πŸ˜‰

OK, I checked out the Dell site again to get a rough estimate on the price. Here's what I found in my price range:

Dell Studio XPS 9000 ($999):
- Intel Core i7 920, 2.66GHz, 1MHz FSB, 8MB cache
- Windows 7 64-bit
- 6GB tri-channel DDR3 SDRAM, 1066MHz, 6 DIMMS
- 1 TB hard drive
- ATI HD5450 Radeon video card
- 16X DVD+/-RW Drive

Dell Studio XPS 9000
- NVIDIA GT220 GeForce video card
- Blu-ray Disc (BD) Combo (Reads BD and Writes to DVD/CD)
If you're just using the machine as home computer and are not going to any media work (eg: video editing, photo quality images) or serious gaming that a 64-bit OS and all the extra RAM is a complete waste of money.

Thanks for all the tips, recommendations and info. Luckily, I didn't have the chance to screw any of it up as my brother said he would sell me his Studio XPS 8100 for cheap. Sweet!

My old desktop compy just blew a gasket, and I'm looking to replace it with something cheap (between $500 and $1000) but effective. I'm thinking my best bet is something I can hook up to my TV, so good video specs would be the main concern. I don't do much gaming these days, so I don't need mind-bending 3D performance. Anyone have any general recommendations?
Old desktop compy?

Sounds gay.

buy yourself a wireless mouse and keyboard. Then hook your desktop up to your big screen tv and use that as your monitor. I have mine hooked up to my 40 inch Samsung TV and kick back on the couch while i surf the net from 20 feet away from the screen.

Much easier on the eyes and the couch is way more comfy than some stupid chair.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a comfy chair?

you think a super comfy chair is cheaper than a wireless keyboard and mouse?

He's already got a big screen tv and a couch.

you'll have to zoom in with your web browser when you surf. I use IE8 and have it set to 200%. 100% has the font too small.

I tried firefox but i couldn't get the zoom to stay on after i closed the browser. Everytime i loaded up firefox, i'd have to zoom in again. IE remembers the setting so you don't have to keep doing it day after day.

Let me know if you figure out how to get firefox to stay zoomed.
