i don't get it. what is this?
1. charcoal based filters (usually countertop 'brita' type things)
2. distillers (expensive in terms of power consumption)
3. reverse osmosis (forces water through a selective semi-permeable membrane separating the gunk)
we liked #3 the best.
this is a pretty good link on RO:

(btw, the prices here seem to me to be a bit high - ours cost $500 and the filter sets are only $45)

Yeah, drinking on a budget forced us to make some pretty lousy alcohol purchases. Milwaukee's Best (affectionately referred to as The Beast), Rainier, and Bud were staples. Henry's was a luxury item!
I had a long love affair with Pyramid Hefeweizen after college, though. But the only way I could drink even that was with about four sliced lemons crushed into the glass.

Seriously, I've never participated but isn't Holy Communion essentially similar to a very awkward cocktail party? Everyone's bored and silent, you're all standing about eating dry crackers and drinking bad wine, and the best-dressed guy there is mumbling something in a dead language...🙄
