How can anybody possibly be too busy for only 'a few minutes to spare for chess each day', when that involves powering up a pc, accessing the internet and logging into this website; surley if your too busy, then technically it wouldn't be possible to perform the necessary procedures to play chess here in the first place?
Another guy would only allow himself 2 moves per board per day to keep himself from moving in haste . He'd get into a "moving freenzy" as he called it , similar to a feeding freenzy of sharks . He'd blunder a lot .
And believe it or not , there are some people who think of chess as only a game , and have other things in their lives .
Originally posted by TOMUKThe first thing to know is that Chess At Work is first and foremost a correspondence chess site. This means that when you make a move in a game, it is unlikely that your opponent will reply to your move immediately. Typically, you will make a move and then wait minutes, hours, or, depending on your opponent, sometimes even days or weeks for your next move.
This was my initial point in the first place. So now we've come full-circle
Well that's what I think anyway. 😉
I average about 100 moves a day, and still don't move in all my games.. if someone has a bunch of 0 Move time out games, then those will take priority over the 1, 3, and 7+ Move Timeout games.. so.. those 100 moves I make could be in only 30 games.. and the other games would have to wait.
Not everyone moves the same way in their chess games.
As for people being too busy.. my wife's job has this website blocked at work. By the time she gets home from work, eats dinner, we put the kids to bed., she has about 1 hour of chess playing time.. She makes her moves, and thats it.. If the person happens to be on the site at the time, and makes a counter move, she might move again, but it is quite possible to not have the time to hang around and wait for someone to make a counter move.

What point exactly are you trying to make when you are indirectly contradicting yourself?

Originally posted by TOMUKNo I'm not contradicting myself . I'm saying there are a lot of people whose situation and motives for playing differ from yours , and therefore they move at different speeds .

The inherent contradiction in your reasoning you've yet to address is why you agree to play games with time limits that allow for slow movers then complain about . Why not only choose games with opponents that want to play blitz if you like fast games ? You're starting to sound like someone who just wants to b1tch about everyone else .
Originally posted by TOMUKThis attitude infuriates me to no end. Do you also post on blitz sites that you hate people who move immediately after you do? This site is for correspondence chess... if you want to play blitz, go to uchess.com or god forbid, games.yahoo.com and leave those who have lives alone... the hardest thing to get through the skull of people like you is not everything is about you...
I hate people who play here and only move once a day. Discuss
