What incredibly dippy fads did you participate in? I'm not really sure about the mood ring, but I definitely had a pet rock. I wanted one of these http://tinyurl.com/28nhjv too, but luckily I was broke.

I not only owned a lava lamp back in the 70's...although I think they are making a comeback but also...
Ordered and tried to make Sea Monkeys!
As well as had an Atari 2600...and a Colecovision.
And god forbid...had a damn Chia Pet.
Now somebody beat that crap!

I didn't get sucked into many fads, but I did tend to discover dorky things on my own. Stilts, boomerangs, chemistry sets (man, the stinky stuff I created!), lots of stuff from Edmund Scientific (bimetallic jumping discs, Crookes radiometer), insectivorous plants (Venus' Flytraps, sundews, pitcher plants, etc.).
I did own a pair of earth shoes once. They probably didn't help my Achilles tendons any, though. 😞
And I tried slot car racing for a short time during its heyday.
Originally posted by Mad RookI had allot of Eath Shoes. I wish I could still get them. Great for comfort.

I was an avid slot car racer until they sold the hobby store with the 2 huge tracks. 🙁
