i remember being at bellahouston park in glasgow, in 1982, when John Paul 2nd visited Scotland. there was 350,000 in the park that day - the largest crowd for any event in scotland.
i think this particular pope will go down as one of the best in roman catholic history.
he opened the church to the world by going to visit so many countries. his successor will have a very difficult job in following him.
an extraordinary man, god bless you John Paul.
