Ok, so one of the one most awaited games consoles in history has finally been released in the PAL territories a couple of days ago. Before selling my house, car and soul for it, I wanted to know 2 things from those lucky/rich enough to have one:

1.) Is it any better than PS2 gamplay-wise and
2.) Was it worth 400 pounds/600+ dollars?

1.) No
2.) No

What you wanna do is get a really old PC, install a stripped version of linux
on it and then program your own games. That way you can have the games
just the way you like them for practically no cost at all (except time - but if
you're having fun...). 😀

The PS3 is well worth the money. Abosultely brilliant.
Anyone who states it is over priced clearly has no idea what the device is capable of.
It's a bargain.

In order to buy the PS3 I started selling my body to the best postor,
on a daily basis, outside the main harbor building, to any sailor willing
to pay 20 Eur for 20 minutes of lust with me.

I have now gathered enough money to buy six PS3s and lots of games.

I care no more about videogames now, though.

You really need to consider buying a better house and car. 😛

No, just a poor gamer considering an upgrade... Oh sorry, I thought you meant me. Anyway, I thought of getting an XBox 360 (Gears of War looks incredible!!) but I figured I'd rather see what Sony has to offer before making a decision.

Kids? Thats what turned my ps2 into a doorstop. The only thing I use it foir now is to let the kids watch movies on it in the other room.

You must've spent alot on games to have given it all up... How much did you spend?

That's one thing about videogames, it's quite an expensive hobby to maintain. I've been a gamer for ten years now and have spent more than I care to think about... If I do, I'll probably have a heart attack or something.
