This weekend the UK and the wider Commonwealth celebrates Her Majesty’s 70th year as Monarch.
Here we have an extra days of National holiday plus the moving of the late May Bank Holiday to make a 4 day long weekend of international, national and local celebrations including street parties, fetes and various pageantry.
The other half and myself have booked accommodation at one of our favourite quaint coastal English towns to celebrate with friends and the local townsfolk.

I am not sure if they have anything going on as I haven't been out and about much since the Pandemic.
Enjoy your street parties and most of all relax.

@divegeester saidNo, not me. Not where I am, nor in my head or heart. I am an ambivalent republican but also an admirer of the Queen. My irrelevant admiration will have to suffice because there will be no celebration.

@fmf saidI’ll FaceTime you into the joy and fun to see if I can overcome your ambivalence with some good old friendly nationalistic nostalgia, bunting and crumpets.

i saw a news report that her image was projected upon multiple stonehenge pillars
personally, i find that sad for both
but then, america has dealt with and will continue to deal with elite morons who want their faces on monuments
(trump wanted so bad to be included on mount rushmore)
i hope her day is special
@divegeester saidas a devout member of Momentum the only song sung in this house is The Red Flag .any fecking monarch that can condone the millions spent on this royal piss up whilst children in the uk go hungry is little more than a vampire.

No. Though I think highly of the Brit's, this whole "royal family" thing seems to be a lot of fuss over nothing. I'll be doing to some exercise, then it's off to the bookstore.
