@divegeester saidI would get shot of all the royal scroungers/not tough just a socialist
Why do you feel the need to celebrate the death of someone just because you are “anti-royalist”?
It seems to me that you are just trolling and trying to look tough.
@very-rusty saidover the years I would have to agree a bottle of scotch and a few beers most nights but cant do it now.....age and health caught me out.
I believe you had too much already!

@badradger saidWell I respect your personal opinion on the monarchy as an institution of course, but I feel your rather silly claims about you celebrating the death of a woman, mother, grandmother and great grandmother is a bit misplaced.

@badradger saidMy friend I quit in 1992, you are doing yourself a favor by staying away from it, mostly.

I watched the accession this morning before goint to work. It was strange seeing so many former PMs standing in front.
Though I'm not a royalist at heart. I appreciate the regal history of the crown.
Honestly, it's just incredible: The longevity of this great woman, if nothing else, must be worthy of praise.
At a time like this, being a witness to history, supercedes all political concerns.
Now to keep William safe and on ice for the next 10 to 20 years!

@divegeester saidWe clash a lot, Dive, but on this I think we agree completely.
That was probably the one; it was certainly heartfelt and moving.
I wasn’t much of a fan of his when he was younger but he’s certainly seasoned well since marrying Camilla, who got a nice mention from him.
I hope he brings the start of reform of the monarchy structure and funding etc. There’s always been way too many peripheral almost-importants riding the regal gravy train, imo.

@badradger saidYou can be a socialist without being either hateful or a republican. Indeed, you should. Sweden's one of the most socialist countries in Europe, and a monarchy. The USA hates both kings and socialism with a vehemence rarely equalled.

Socialism isn't about getting rid of kings, it's about getting rid of absolutism in both monarchy and capitalism. A parliamentary monarchy is quite compatible with it, if it takes care of the lower classes. A moderate capitalism the same, as long as the capitalists are made to pay their due and not let run rampant among the poor.
Get rid of the monarchy in the UK, and you'll replace a right-wing-ridden two-party system with a few good, socialist parts in it with an absolutist, right-wing-owned one-party plutocracy run by the likes of Johnson, Rees-Mogg, Murdoch, Sugar and the parasite Farage. The monarchy is one of the few things standing in the way of the complete ascendancy of the robber barons.

@shallow-blue saidYes, so it seems.

We do clash a lot but I think it’s all handbags and hangovers since Brexit. I don’t remember other major disagreements.
@shallow-blue saidthe royl family are rampant tories they want to perpetuate the status quo, Obviously the speed with which my posts were removed Proves that QLM queens lives matter far more than the poor in the uk freezing to death this winter....take your pius attitute and shove it firmly up your ass.
