2 chess sites EXACTLY like this one. You can find them by going to RHP actual home.

They were set up for people who, for example, may play at work. If you use redhotpawn it may conjour up the wrong impression. Also since a lot of people at my office play here they have banned the site and blocked it on the firewall - luckily I can log into chessatwork or timeforchess and they are not blocked.

You play at work?😲 How'd you mean the wrong impression.
I'm sure there's other reasons aswell.

I play very badly at work and try and recover then I get home and can sit down and think about the huge blunder I make trying to play chess in the smallest window I can manage on my screen hoping no one can see.

"red hot pawn" think about what tounge in cheek thing this is supposed to mean. When you you say to your friends I was looking at some "red hot pawn" on the internet would they think you were looking at a chess site? Here lies the potential problem.

yeah-my dad went on the computer just after i'd been on it, and i hadn't closed the windows, so he asked if i still needed the "red hot...pawn", stressing the pawn...

But the spelling is different. Anyway, people still knows it's all chess.

They are set up for worried wives.

I think they set this up because, but,in all innocense they attracted the wrong kind of people. That is why they give you all those screens.
The people who stop are chess players.
The people who where looking for more than a chess game are gone.

but I doubt I am not the only person who has made a subconscious error at work and typed the wrong spelling into their browser! Can take some explaining that one!

I occasionally pick up on a thread of "fear" around the issue of playing RHP while at work. The implication is that if you are playing chess, you are lazy. I am curious if there are any of you who receive affirmation or curiosity while playing at work. Does it ever contribute to the work environment in a good way? Kirk

My boss knows I play here at work. While I can't say he encourages it, he really doesn't mind it either. The other people at my work place use other sites to play games, but nothing like chess. Overall, I think he appreciates that what I do in my spare time requires thought, especially as opposed to playing tetris and such. When I see him he ocassionaly even asks me how I've been doing at my chess site. πŸ˜‰

And with other bosses you could get sacked.
But what makes RHC different?
