Originally posted by Tirau DanI got my entries in today. ๐ "LAST DAY TODAY" can be a bit misleading. The round closes Monday evening BST, which is in about 24 hours. It's still Sunday here.
Bump again... come on and get your entries in...everyone should join in... LAST DAY TODAY... send Man Made pics to rag
Originally posted by NordlysSeries: I have a few pics taken of sunsets where I took 1 pic now, and then another 10 minutes later, which captures the change in sun position, colouration, etc. I also have a series of a few pics which are of a specific scene unfolding over 6 pics, taken within a second or so of each other.
Ragnorak: Can you say a bit more about the "Series" round? What I send in for the "Natural Light" round (which I need to start working on soon) partly depends on what exactly you have in mind with the "Series" round.
BTW, how did you like the cropped Pluto pictures?
That kind of thing.
I preferred your cropped version to The Plumbers. I think I still prefer my own version though, even though I can see why it might not be pleasing to adherents of the rule of thirds.

Originally posted by RagnorakThanks, that's what I thought, just wanted to make sure. Will people still be able to send three entries, even though each entry consists of several pictures? And just out of curiousity, could a multiple exposure of a non-sunset be considered a series? It's kind of a series in one picture. I don't plan to enter that picture ( http://home.online.no/~khgott/Sol/Midnattsoler2002.html ) because people probably start getting bored of pictures of Landegode, I just thought it was an interesting question (and maybe someone else has multiple exposures).

Fair enough. I don't care much for rules, and when I take or look at pictures, I don't think of the rule of thirds, but I will usually perceive the picture as balanced if it follows that rule and unbalanced if it doesn't, so that rule seems to be imprinted in my brain. Your brain may be wired differently, and if I were in your place, I wouldn't change the picture either if it's the way I like it (just like I wouldn't change my waterfall pictures). As for not seeing the vastness in your picture, I don't think that was because you didn't follow the rule of thirds, it was a separate issue. I think it may be easier to see for you because you have been there and recall the feeling.
Originally posted by NordlysHmmmmm, that multiple-exposure image of yours wasn't quite what I had in mind with series, but to be honest, I don't know if it fits or not.

People can send 3 entries of multiple pics, so it might be 3*6 pictures in total. Voting will just be done on the series and not per individual picture. I'm not sure the best way to present the pics, but make sure that you send me on the order you want them displayed in.
I'm going opening this round a little bit earlier than I said due to me doing something tonight. I reckon that anybody who is going to enter has done so already anyway. So you have about 3.5 hours left.

Just off to work Tues a.m. NZ.
How about everyone get a free account at flickr.com under your rhp user name. Post some pics up there and link to each other for ease of viewing. Then chat about the stuff in here.
I've put up heaps under Tirau Dan and my wife is user essjay. Searching on key word Tirau or waikato would find us both...then link to form our community.
Can't wait til you guys wake up.. lol I have to wait until tonight to see the new round...

A photo community sounds fun, but at the moment I think I'll stick with my webpage ( home.online.no/~khgott/index-en.html ). It hasn't been updated in ages, I still have hundreds of photos to scan, and I am in the process of moving, so I don't want to start something new right now. But I'll have a look around when I have the time.
Manmade Round is now open to voting.

I have allowed 1 person to resubmit a picture from the last round into this round as it was obviously a mistaken submission in the Natural Wonders round. This is an exception to the rule and resubmitting photos for future rounds will not be allowed except in exceptional circumstances.
Enjoy the 34 photographs. Voting will be open until next Tuesday 2nd August.
