new cam coming new cam coming new cam coming.. hee hee can't wait til the weekend when it comes... new cam coming. dslr finally saved my pennies. Olympus e300 coming my way with extra lens and batt grip..
woo hoo only a few more days.. sunny forecast too

BW's a Big Genre.. BW scenery cloudy macro people bugs animals Bw film or just desaturated colour.

maybe BW should have to be straight from the camera as BW? no sepias or mono tone variations.

Any dead line.. and how many would you like?

cheers glad it's still going.

All the best

Congratulations on the new camera. I kinda want a digital SLR too, but it's a bit too expensive to get one as a secondary camera. Especially since I kinda want to have a medium format camera too. It all depends on how things evolve in the next few months. I'm moving in january to a place where I can finally set up a decent darkroom. If that works out and I end up spending enough time there, I'll probably go for the medium format camera. If it doesn't and my darkroom starts collecting dust, I'll probably go digital. But the most likely option is that I'll discover I don't have money for either of those cameras, since I'm buying the house we're moving to.

Anyway, considering the B&W round. I suggest we keep it is open as possible and just accept any picture without colour. I don't know about sepia or other tones (I'd suggest only B&W, but I wouldn't mind toned images), but i think it's not feasible to only accept images that are desaturated or that are taken on B&W film (which would exclude any digital entries).

Best regards,

David

Cool, congratulations! 🙂 But the forecast must be wrong, a new camera usually means several weeks with bad weather. 😉

I don't plan to buy a digital camera (or any other camera) any time soon, but I really need to get my zoom lens repaired. 😕 It has been broken for a while now and I haven't done anything about it, so I only have my two wideangle lenses (20mm and 28mm), and I don't even know where the 28mm lens is... It's also raining almost all the time. No aurora. 🙁

It sounds like people are ready for the Black and White round, so I don't think we need to wait three weeks. If people can send their entries until next Friday (October 28), I should be able to get them up during the weekend. If anyone needs more time, please let me know. Send up to three entries to rhpphotocomp@gmail.com .

I'd say we go with only B&W. I hadn't thought about pictures which are not taken on B&W film, but I guess you are right that we should allow them. Hmm, in that case I might actually enter a picture, too...

Oh yes, lenses. Beside the extra cameras I want, I want some additional lenses too. I've been looking around for a 50mm prime lens, since the only lenses I have right now are el cheapo zoom lenses. They're not too bad, but I'd like a nice prime lens. And a good macro lens. Is that 20mm lens the one that you got thanks to the fundraising in that aurora photography forum you once told us about? That's quite a gift!

October 28th sounds good to me. I wasn't in favor of a break anyway, and I'm also glad to see this still going on. I'll be sending in some pictures this weekend.

Yes, that's the one. http://www.photo.net/ezshop/product?product_id=1184 🙂

I think the next lens I buy may be a good macro lens. I often miss that.

YAY!!! I got my film back today!!! 🙂😀😏😵🙄 It was sent from Germany ten days ago (normally it takes about three days). And it must have taken even longer from Norway to Germany. Anyway, I am verrry glad it's not lost! 🙂

Nice. I'd be interested in seeing your self picture.

Just because I think its a really nice pic, here is my very dodgy non entry into the self round...

I will post it if it's presentable. So far I have only looked at the film by holding it against the light, and it's hard to tell that way how well the pictures have turned out. It will take some time until I am done with the cutting, framing and scanning.

I'd also be interested in seeing DdV's self pictures.

Good thing you got your film back. Gotta have a bit of patience when using film :-)

Here are my self pictures, but only because you asked. They're quite cliché. I really liked Tirau Dan's frame experiments that he put on Flickr. I'm sure he would have finished first if the self round had continued.

Nice Pics, DdV.

I agree, Tirau's framed self series was excellent. They would have had my winning vote for sure in the series round. That would be a fantastic interpretion of displaying movement through still pics, within the typical frame which is always used with purely still pics. Brilliant. Individually, they're also great.

You're also becoming a bit of a photoshop wiz. Some of your pics are very nice, I especially liked: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tirau_dan/53965094/

Thanks! 🙂 I like them, cliché or not. That shadow picture reminds me that I have a cliché self picture on my homepage as well: http://home.online.no/~khgott/Schatten.jpg 😉

I hadn't been at flickr yet, so I wasn't even aware that Dan had put up some self pictures (if he said he had pictures for the Self round, I must have missed it). 😳 Very nice. I think the first one is my favourite. I like the hand, too.

That was a layering exercise for the class I was participating in lead by the tutor "Ichor". The last class was taken by a master design photo artist with 40 years experience.. he is blow your mind brilliant and is one of the dela brigade (Hand of Haint is his flickr user name).

Hey guys don't be afraid to comment of any of the pics in flickr.. it's all fun and is one helluva learning curve.

ps ps ps my new cam's coming tomorrow..I won't sleep a wink.. lemme at it... (do you think I have shutteritis?)
