125. Believe it or not (to your lifelong benefit or regret and peril, respectively)... the institution of marriage
is not designed for happiness. Marriage is designed for virtue. Virtue is the source of human happiness.
🙂
Virtue is the offspring of integrity and character. Please make no mistake, selecting a spouse/life partner is essentially a reciprocal 'character hire'
between two opposite numbers smitten with a fierce mutual attraction. Virtue-love is the source of all happiness in marriage... the entire spectrum
from tranquility to ecstatics. Sexual intimacy or physical union is an expression of the coalescence of soul and rapport, which are the foundation
cornerstones of durable love in marriage. And there are many other daily expressions of a husband and wife's shared trust, deference, esteem, etc.

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.
.....KahlilG...... Marriage. 😉
Re Mr. Hound. What is it about sticking your thumb up your bum on a public bus such a bad thing? Are you sure that wasn't some kind of transposition of words. Like, don't stick you thumb up someone elses bum on a public bus? Does it in some way relate to the old adage "whats good for the gander is a good goose, or something like that".
129. This morning I woke up. I thought of something very important that I tried to commit to memory. I went back to bed, and woke up again in about an hour. I knew I had something to remember, but I forgot what it was. However, my day went very well today, so I realized that what I had tried to remember must not have been very important after all.
