Scotland are rubbish full stop. Take Rangers and Celtic, put them in anywhere from the Championship to the Premier leage and they would not win a Game !!!!!!1
The only team to beat both of the Old Firm last year was Hibernian, a.k.a. "The Mighty Hibees"!
Edit: And before anyone points out the inevitable, yes, the cup final game was something less than "mighty"...

Don't lower yourself to defending Scottish football. We suck. End of story.
Scots are better at other things...like deep frying mars bars.

Originally posted by colkinga common misconception, and of course wrong. Celtic, lest we forget, reached the final of the UEFA cup only the season before last, and to suggest that either of the Old Firm couldn't beat such minnows as Plymouth or Birmingham shows a lack of appreciation of the strengths of the Glasgow teams. People forget that only one team in the English Premiership has a larger capacity stadium than Celtic Park, and only two teams a larger stadium than Ibrox. The money is there, and if the Old Firm were to play in the Premiership (I don't think they should but that's another story) the talent would soon arrive and both teams would be a force to be reckoned with - IMHO.

As for Scotland's national side - well, don't confuse the clubs with the country. My personal view on the state of the national team, apart from managerial ineptitude, is the fact that home-grown talent doesn't get a look-in in Scotland, where the effects of imported players are felt more keenly than in England. That and the fact that the Old Firm have been guilty in the past of buying up promising local talent and then sticking them on the bench, out of harms way. How are the Scottish players supposed to play well for the national side when they're watching the imported Scandinavian team-mates from the sidelines week in, week out?
