I mad the awful mistake of reading the later half of Thread 124978 and could literally feel both my faith in humanity and my IQ dropping at a dangerous speed.

Surely, such unusual obtuseness and disregard for any logical reasoning is unsafe for a 13+ site? In fact, I would argue that it is by far more detrimental to the young people who might be on here than the occasional swear word. Lets face it, most 13 year olds have heard their fair share of swears but even I, at 21, have a hard time swallowing that thread. It redefines stupidity in a way I never thought possible. It makes me want to weep and hurt and myself. I can only imagine the kind of permanent psychological effects it can have on an unsuspecting teenager.

In your opinion, to what extent, if any, should stupidity be moderated?

Provocative question, almost like a chess move.

Got to ponder this one. By the way, Hi. ~gb

Not only should it be moderated, but i could put a strong case for it to be steralised aswell to prevent pregnancy.

Of course, there should be limits, but defining "stupidity" and setting workable standards would be
difficult, if not impossible. When you think about all the words pumped out here every minute of
every day, the knucklehead factor seems to be relatively low. How often do you see a thread that
sinks to this level?

Is stupidity in the eye of the beholder? Kinda like "One man's junk is another man's treasure" isn't it?

Guess that's none.

I think you mean you 'made' the awful mistake, not 'mad' ?

Perhaps reading the thread didn't hurt your IQ at all, but brought back bad memories?

If you feel reading threads on an interwebz forum is going to so severely hurt your precious IQ, here is a suggestion.

DON'T READ THEM. 😉

If you moderate the stupidity, the smart people will not stand out at all. 😉

Hey Raven!

I stopped reading that thread a long time ago, due to stupid posts, so I don't know what has been happening in it lately, probably no good.

I would just like to point out that "survival of the fittest" has a way of slowly decreasing the stupid population, though it will never be completely eliminated.

😞
