No, I really do ignore their threads. The only time I interact with either of them is if they enter threads I have started or wandered into and they have to comment on something I have said.

I'm not really the bandwagon type. I actually start out treating everyone with respect and admiration and it is only after repeated insults or attacks that I write someone off.

I really doubt GB attacked you and VR has a tendency to ignore anyone who isn't picking a fight with him. They also have both been active in the forums since long before you joined which gives you no point of reference to decide if the forum was better with or without them. You pointed out that the forum is better quality when they aren't active, but the GF went bad before they even made an appearance. The truth is that the GF consists of 99% crap and the genuinely interesting threads require too much thought during or after a hard days work, catapulting "make fun of the crap" to the forefront of RHP GF activities, effectively adding more crap.

I can tell you that today, for example, I was able to enjoy reading almost every thread in the forum. I only post in the ones that interest me, but I read them all. When the two of them are actively posting I often look at the thread list, sigh in disgust, and move on. And yes, both have attacked, and insulted me personally on more than one occasion. And in each case I was kind and respectful the first time I made it clear that I wouldn't stand for it, and a little firmer the second time I warned them off, and an outright biatch the third or fourth time. There is plenty of room for teasing, goofing around and general silliness in my world, but when someone has nothing but idiocy or blantant nastiness to add, I just don't have time for them.

Now I think I made it clear in my post that this is just my personal opinion. I don't mind at all if you feel they add something to the forum and you want them to stick around, you're entitled to feel that way. But please don't continue to question the basis by which I've formed my opinion. Not until you've walked in my shoes, okay?

Point: without crap there is no crap to make fun of with more crap to make fun of. The forum would self destruct without VR or GB. edit: 😛

I looked at them but they only appear about two inches long. I needed to put on GB's glasses to see them.

Well in person they are what we Vermonters would lovingly call "$hit kickers". A more apt name would be ass kickers, 'cause who wants to go around kicking $hit? Not anybody who has stepped in a warm one even once, let me tell ya.

Golly, cft, I think I get all right. I think if anyone is being the thorny part of the rose, it would be the person sitting in front of your keyboard. After all, you're the one trying to say that the agenda of a few people in a subset somehow are the arbiters of the mores for the whole group.

In opposition, most people who go on line behave nothing like the small group of snide-sters who dominate this forum. Such behavior as is exhibited herein by those few has the effect of intimidating normal discourse, keeping it at bay for fear of being made fun of, derided, ridiculed. Does that domination therefore establish a new 'normal?' In your book, apparently so.
