Well 39$ really isn't much, especially when you compare it with some other sites. He has the right to increase it. I don't think they are making fortune with RHP anyway. What should they do... Be volonteurs ?

inflation is running at about 1% right now. The fee increased 50%.
I can recall reading about the planned increase in subscription well in advance of it taking effect. This gave anyone not currently a member an opportunity to buy in at the lower rate.
If the vast majority of members resubscribe automatically then, in inflationary terms, the site makes a loss on them each year, so the subscription for new members must rise by more than inflation to compensate.
