sections 2.5 and 2.6 in the above article discuss the security measures. the encryption sounds like you have good security, i don't like the idea of not being able to refuse to allow your client to become a super-node though.

My sister and her friend said it's free till Jan 17.

How do you phone pc to pc? Never tried that one before.
Way back at the dawn of time, I used AOL IM. Over time I tried Yahoo and MSN. Then I used Trillian to manage all of my various accounts.
When Skype came along, I pitched all of the others.
I've used it for VOIP conversations with my relatives in China, often with great results. And I only use the free version.
For text messaging, I concur that it's fantastic.
