@divegeester saidOne olfactory stimulant which used to trigger a negative reaction in me was the smell of neat gin.
Yes smell seems to trigger good memories. I’ve not known anyone who said that smell triggered bad memories.
As youngsters a friend and myself collaborated to buy a bottle of Hogarth’s Gin at what I remember as being £3.79 at that time. We took it out to the local park and sat in the middle of the vast expanse of grass and drank enough of it to make us vomit.
I couldn’t touch gin for about 15 years but nowadays I seem to have no problem with that delicious aroma.
@divegeester saidI manage to do a similar thing with Whisky in my early twenties. After avoiding it ever after, I discovered I liked it on a trip to Scotland two years ago. Perhaps I could have been okay after 15 years? Is there a standard recovery time? Anybody else got an example of this phenomenon?

@petewxyz saidMy 15 years was somewhat apocryphal and merely indicative of a long period of ginlessness.

A bit like "40 years" is used in the Bible.
@divegeester saidI don't realise there were binge drinking sessions in the bible?! What would the drink have been they were recovering from?

@very-rusty saidTo clarify, you are asking a known atheist if he beliefs what he read in the Bible?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidBeing as I rarely go to the "Spirituality Forum" except once and a while how would you expect me to know you're and atheist?

Yet somehow you think you know all about Noah, interesting!
@very-rusty saidDid Noah actually have a drinking session? Surely this isn't based on real knowledge of the story of Noah??

@petewxyz saidThat should have been directed towards goad, I am not the one who mentioned Noah goad was. 🙂

@petewxyz saidThe drunkenness of Noah is quite a significant episode in the Bible that had ramifications. (Especially in regards to how his sons dealt with the episode).
