I know there's a number of RPG players in here. What is your favorite RPG (paper, console, etc.) and why?

I give my props to Final Fantasy VII. The best of old school in my opinion.

Super Mario RPG for SNES is the best game ever made...don't even try to argue it out with me because I hold true. It's the only game where Bowser a good guy and Princess serves a useful function....hehe....πŸ˜΅πŸ˜€

I think almost any game can be called a rpg (raceing games you play as the driver, gun games as the shooter etc...)

Paper Mario is another RPG just like Mario RPG except he's flat. By the way, not to be critical but I don't think Goldeneye or all the Drivers count as an RPG. Zelda is though. Normally you go on adventure through a world an collect members for a team and get new weapons and items, etc. No racing games are specifically RPG's and neither are shooting games. It's normally a fantasy type game.

Jeez, a thread on Role Playing Games and nobody has brought up Dungeons and Dragons? I despair for the geeks of today. I was raised on D&D, Gary Gygax is like a favorite uncle. I've traveled throughout the Forgotten Realms, Krynn, Greyhawk and Ravensloft. I know I'm not the only one here who has done this. And though it's been decade since I've played, all those rules are still buried somewhere in my head, and all those books are still in storage...I just couldn't bring myself to throw them away.
