And Rodney said unto the King of Banality, “it is good to be here Sire” and the King replied “it is SO good” and turned to the guy next to him and said “isn’t it?” and the guy said “what?” and the King said “isn’t it good to be here?” and the guy said “oh yes, yes it is very good, very good indeed” and followed up with “and we have such lovely weather it too!”.
Then one day a traveller from far and interesting places entered the Kingdom of Banality. He entered a tavern, drank his ale, and whispered to the wheelwright who was there that he was feeling a bit bored. Time past in Banality and then more time past, in fact lots of time past for most of people of the Kingdom of Banality, but strangely enough at differing perceptive speed of its passing. No one seemed to mind though and it wasn’t talked about much, except in this post, thousands of years later on the forum board of a chess website.
One day a peasant man woke up and after having eaten his breakfast he thought to himself some thoughts. One of those thoughts was “I think I will journey up to Castle Banal and have a meeting with the King”. And so he did. It was a long journey, longer than he had expected, which wasn’t difficult as he hadn’t planned the journey and therefore didn’t know what to expect. But in his dismay at running out of food by lunchtime along the way on the first day, he blamed himself, quite harshly actually.
